Bounna & Thys

July/August 2017 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

On July 12th, we celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary.  We are so thankful for your continual love, prayers, financial support, and for the grace of God upon our marriage and ministry. We are so blessed.

Please pray for Sinath’s spiritual growth and her sister, Sina, to be saved.  The Holy Spirit is really working in their lives.  We believe that this is God reopening a door into for their village, Prey Pnou.

Our Romdeng village trip went well as we were able to teach many about “Knowing God.”  There were several new folks who came to the Bible study.  God definitely is at work in this isolated village as many are seeking and searching to know the true and living God.  Pray for this needy place as we’ll be returning with another group soon and that we’ll be able to start a church as the Lord leads.

We have two new attendees to our singles class, Menglay and Nareach.  Please pray for an open door for me to continue to share the gospel with Nareach and also disciple Menglay.

Dalin attended church for the 1st time in a very long time.  She called me very excited as her husband gave her permission to come.  Pray for her situation and for her husband, Barang, to be saved.

Srey Nou has been attending our church on and off for the past 4 years.  She comes from an unstable home but finds the love she craves in Jesus.  Pray for wisdom as we seek to be a blessing to her.

I believe that the best kind of friend is a praying friend. We are humbled by your faithful prayers and friendship. May the Lord continue to richly bless you!

September/October 2017 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

Glory to God!  On September 17th, our church plants came together to celebrate Jesus.  What an honor it was to see 16 believers follow the Lord in believer’s baptism.  We were blessed by wonderful music, testimonies, and a powerful message by one of our national leaders, Bro. San.  My heart continues to be encouraged by the national believer’s growth in their love for God and others.

Vy traveled again all the way from Vietnam to have us teach her about Jesus.  Myself, her aunt and two of our single ladies all took time to share the gospel with her all 3 days she was here.  On Monday, September 18th, she believed on Jesus.  Praise the Lord!  Please be in prayer for her spiritual growth as she will be faced with persecution without a church family to encourage, equip and edify her.  Also, pray that God would open a door for the gospel to go to her village in the near future.

By the end of this month, I will be finishing up two courses: Bible Doctrines IV and Child Evangelism.  Then beginning in November I will have the privilege to start two new courses: New Testament Survey and Teaching Methods.  Please continue to pray for the next generation of laborers that God has entrusted to our care.  Pictured is one of our college students, Bro. Veasna Sovann leading singing during a midweek Bible study service.  Please pray for our college students to grow intellectually, physically, socially, and (especially) spiritually.

We have had the privilege of knowing grandma So Khim (age 74) for 4 years now.  This past week I had the rare opportunity to share a clear presentation of the gospel with her; surely God is dealing with her about her salvation.  Please pray for her to be saved and also continue to pray for her village, Prey Pnov.

Thank you for your continual prayer for the village of Romdeng.  God surely is at work in the hearts of people in this remote village.  This past month, Sovanaara and Srey Meas both believed on Jesus; please pray for them along with the other new believers: Sophear, Vichica, Socheat, Kanha, and Sophane (who all have trusted Christ) for spiritual growth.  Satan and his demons are surely not happy as we continue to advance with the gospel in this spiritually dark place.  This week, our team: Missionary Keo and Vong will be having our first Sunday Bible study in one of the homes there.  Lord willing, we will be able to start a church there in the near future.  Please pray for these individuals from Romdeng to be saved: The village chief, Yin and his wife, Sair to be saved; and also Sake.  May the gospel continue to have free course.  We genuinely thank you for praying, giving, and caring.  May the Lord richly bless you.

November 2017 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

Is it just me?  For some reason it felt like I send last month’s update just last week; but here we are in November!  Let’s just say that God is better to us than we deserve (that’s for sure).  October was a fantastic month, we are so happy to share how God is working in this part of the world.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your fellowship in the gospel!

Thank you so much for your continued prayer for the village of Romdeng.  Praise the Lord!  This past month, our team hosted our first Sunday Bible study, and also, this past week, Sair (wife of the village chief) & Poeul Kourn both believed on Jesus.  Please continue to pray for God's hedge of protection around these believers as the Devil is not happy with what God is doing there.  Due to the difficulty of getting to this remote village and the busyness of our current schedule, as of now, we are planning on going there on Sunday once a month and also every other Friday.  Please pray that we will be able to start a church there in the near future.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to have a small part at a youth camp in Northern Cambodia.  It was a joy and honor to be able to preach to these precious young people.  God surely blessed as 6 individuals surrendered their lives to the Lord.  Though Thy was not able to accompany me on this short trip, I was able to bring with me two of our single men and three teenage boys.  Let’s just say it was both an interesting and unforgettable trip.
This past month, before our Singles Adult class, Makara and Thy were able to share the gospel with these young ladies.  Praise God!  Srey Touch, Ly Ly, Srey Kuch, Srey La all put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  These singles girls go to college and work in the garment factory full time, and on their only day off left their place two hours earlier to come study about salvation.  This past week they brought their roommates to hear the gospel.

Our church had a privilege of attending a family seminar hosted by a church of like faith.  What a special time of fellowship and teaching on the family.  Afterwards, we were able to have a couple’s activity at a nearby local mall.  We are thrilled about how God is working in the lives of the Cambodian believers here.  God has blessed us with some wonderful families.  We are thankful for their spiritual growth and sensitivity to the Lord.

Please continue to pray for our various children’s ministries.  We have the privilege to reach out to over 200 children on a weekly basis.  We have seen God raised up fruit from these various ministries.

Please join us in prayer for our annual teen revival on November 4th.  God has blessed us with some fantastic teens and young adults.  Please pray for God to bring revival to the hearts of the next generation of believers.  Our theme is “To Know Christ and Make Him Known.”  Please pray for souls to be saved and lives surrendered to the will of the Lord.

We are blessed by your continued love, prayers, and support.  Hoping and praying that this Thanksgiving will be your best one yet.

December 2017 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

Thy and I trust that you had a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones.  We enjoyed a wonderful time with our team here in Cambodia.  There is so much to be thankful to our Great God for.  We are especially thankful for your continual love, prayers, and support; your friendship is forever treasured.

We are thankful that Thy’s sister, Nary, was able to visit us in Cambodia for a couple of weeks. It was such a blessing for the both of them to be able to spend some quality time together. Thankful for the wonderful families that God blessed both of us with.

On December 3rd, I had the opportunity to preach a Sunday service at our Stung Mean Jey Church plant for the first time. God surely is using Bro. Man and his dear family in a mighty way; let’s just say souls are being saved, and lives are being changed by the power of the gospel. Please continue to be in prayer for these precious new believers and this physically and spiritually needy area.

Teen Revival “To Know Christ and to Make Him Known”: We started the month with our annual Teen Revival.  God surely moved and blessed in the services as many decisions were made for the glory of God.  It’s amazing to see this next generation of Khmer believers stand unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Please continue to be in prayer for these precious young people.  May they continue to stay hungry, humble, and honest before God.  In the closing service which was also our celebration service, we praise God for four individuals who followed the Lord in believer’s baptism.

Thank you for your faithful prayers for Romdeng Village.  God blessed as 5 new names are written in the book of life.  Please be in prayer for Channoun, Sokey, Hong, Doung, and Chan spiritual growth.  Please pray that we will be able to start a church in this village this coming year.  Pray as the Devil is at work there discouraging, distracting, and detouring the believers and unsaved villagers.

I had the privilege of meeting Stephen this past month.  He is a Filipino, living and working in Cambodia who has recently hit rock bottom.  I have been personally counseling and witnessing to him for the past two weeks.  Please pray for him and his family (Christine, Sophia, and Godwin) to be saved.

We are requesting prayer for Bro. Chanta’s Health.  He is one of our Bible college students; he believes that God wants him to take the gospel back to his village.  He has had problems with his heart since he was a child. He was recently hospitalized and was informed by the doctors that he will need surgery because of his heart condition.  Please continue to be in prayer for him and his family.

Again, we praise God for your love and friendship.  Thank you so much for standing with us.  May the Lord bless you with a Happy New Year.

January 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

Happy New Year: Thy and I trust that you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with your loved ones. December was an awesome month for us in Southeast Asia. We praise God for what he has done throughout 2017 and look forward to what He will continue to do through our family, team, and ministry here in 2018. We sincerely thank you for your consideration, encouragement, thoughtfulness, and time.

Not sure if you remember him from a year ago; for the past year we wondered where he disappeared to. To make a long story short, he was detained in a government rehabilitation center; he has been through much abuse. Right when he was released he came straight to the place he experienced true love, our church! It’s evident that God has been working on his heart this past year. Lomdab has been coming to every service and seems to be growing spiritually. Please pray for me to have wisdom as I begin counseling and discipleship with him.

What a blessing it was to be able to meet and get to know Thy’s cousin: Mohm. Her along with her friend, Touch wanted to visit the church a week before but couldn’t find it. So we all got together for lunch. They seem to both be interested in the gospel and asked some good questions. Please pray for boldness on our part and another opportunity to share the gospel with them soon.

I had the privilege of attending Kong and Lilee’s wedding in a restricted access nation; both of them are two of our national leaders serving in various ministries. God used them in a mighty way as single adults reaching their people with the gospel; I look forward to what the Lord will continue to do through the now (joyful) newlyweds. Please keep them in your prayers for spiritual growth.

What a blessing that around 13 individuals from Romdeng were able to attend our celebration service in the capital city; several of them followed the Lord in believers baptism. Please continue to pray for the believers there and for the gospel to continue to have free course. We are looking forward to having more frequent Bible studies there in 2018 and Lord willing start a church there sometime this year. The distance to travel and cost of doing ministries in this remote village presents some different challenges; please pray for God’s power, protection, and provision.

The day after the wedding, myself along with 9 other men ventured out into several villages in the mountains of Southeast Asia. The trip lasted four days, three nights, of which 34 hours was spent just traveling. We were able to visit different people groups through various contacts. I personally believe that we passed by tens of thousands of people who have probably never heard a clear presentation of the gospel. The harvest truly is plenteous. On the other hand, I praise God for the young national men that God has brought our way. Please pray for our team as we seek to teach and train them for the glory of God and the gladness of the nations. Also, we praise God for two individuals who made a profession of faith. Please join us in prayer for an open door in this restricted access nation.

A special thank you to many of you that have been praying for Chanta’s health. The heart surgery went well and he seems to be recovering steadily. Glory to God! He should be discharge from the hospital within the next few days. His mom, Navy has been sharing her faith in Christ to just about everyone at the hospital that she comes across. I praise God for her boldness and love for our Lord Jesus. We are eternally grateful for your faithful love, prayers, and support. May the Lord richly bless you throughout the New Year!

Feburary 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Sountheast Asia:

It’s once again our honor and privilege to be able to share with you all the wonderful things that God is doing in Southeast Asia.  Thy and I cannot thank you enough for your faithful love, prayers, and support.  What a start to the New Year! January is definitely a month to remember; here are some of the blessings and prayer requests:

On Sunday, January 28th, our church was introduced to the theme for the New Year: “That God May Be Glorified!”  What a powerful, Spirit-filled service as hearts were challenged, encouraged, and blessed by God through the up-dates, vision, singing, and preaching of God’s Word.  Looking forward to seeing and being apart of the mighty works of God in 2018.

I had the privilege of meeting Vattanac for the first time several months ago through our Singles Ministry.  2017 was a rough year for him which God used to work mightily in his heart.  He seems to have a clear testimony of salvation, but is in need of discipleship.  I have had the privilege of meeting with him for discipleship this past month on a weekly basis.  What a blessing it is to see him soak everything in, reading his Bible, and at the same time asking good questions.  His hunger and humility to know God is so spiritually refreshing. Please be in prayer for his spiritual growth.

Thank you for your continued prayers for this needy village.  This month, for the first time, we had the opportunity to go there for Bible studies on a weekly basis.  God surely blessed as five individuals made a profession of faith: Heng, Srey Nate, Phin, and Pheap.  Sokkey who was saved several weeks ago has expressed sincere desire to be apart of our Bible College and Lord willing, he wants to make the gospel known to his people.  Please pray for two men, Meag and Vannak to be saved.  Please continue to pray for the new believers in this dear village and for the gospel to continue to have free course.

Pich and her family has also returned to live in the capital.  It was such a blessing to pick them up for Church this past week.  Her daughter, Rothmony. has heard and read about the gospel but has yet to accept Christ.  Please pray for opportunities in which we can share the gospel with her and for Pich’s spiritual growth.

Please remember Liza and her family for spiritual growth.  It’s such a blessing to see Liza’s love for the Lord and His Church.  I sure do appreciate our teen girls sweet spirit and genuine love toward her.  They live near the needy area of Prey Sar and Toul Pu Ro which is a good distance from the church.  Please pray for opportunities to teach her and her family, as well as share the gospel with the surrounding villages.

Thy and I are so grateful for your help in fulfilling the great commission.  We are eternally grateful for what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do in this part of the world.  May the Lord richly bless you!

March 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

We welcomed the month of March.  Thy and I count it as an honor and privilege to represent our Lord Jesus and each of you in Southeast Asia.  We are constantly overwhelmed and at a loss for words at the good ness of God and your generous love, prayers, and support.  Let us share with you our most recent blessings and prayer requests.

We sure do appreciate many of you who have faithfully prayed for the needy remote village of Romdeng.  Here are some of the highlights, blessings, and prayer requests:
We are able to have a Bible study with three different ethnic groups on a weekly basis.
I had a certain special meat (woof) for the first time as a special request of the host.
Two more individuals made a profession of faith: Somphos, a sixteen-year-old, and Rotha, a nineteen-year-old.
Please pray for Yin, Vannak, Ney, Meag, Sokjear, and Yary to be saved.
Also, pray for the spiritual growth of the new believers.

Every Sunday evening, our single adults meet for a small group Bible study.  What a joy it is to see the spiritual growth in so many of our young adults.  God surely is working wonders as only He could in their hearts.  The Cambodian-demographics of age 30 years and younger make up approximately 70% of the country; consider the potential in reaching this generation.  Please continue to pray for the teaching and training of this special group of national believers.

We are thankful that Chantrea (age 23) was able to attend our church for the first time this past month.  She was very nervous because she, like many other unbelievers, have heard various accusations, misconceptions, and lies against Christ and His Church.  One example is that when you believe in Jesus, you have to partake in the drinking of urine.  Thy and Makara were able to spend time with her answering questions and sharing the gospel.  She mentioned how overwhelmed and shocked she was by the love, respect, and hospitality of the Church family.  Please pray for her salvation.

Thank you for praying for Pich and her family.  I am thrilled to share that this past month her daughter, Rothmony (age 16), and son, Loang (age 8), both accepted Jesus.  Only if you could see the smile on their faces in person; Oh, the joy of salvation!  They have been coming to church consistently for the past month.  Please continue to be in prayer for their spiritual growth.

God is good!  It is only by His grace and mercy that anything is possible.  We are also humbled and grateful for your faithfulness in standing with us.  May the Lord continue to richly bless you!

April 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

Thank you for your support. We praise God for you and covet your prayers. At the beginning of April, Thy and I celebrated six years of service in the country of Cambodia. We praise God for His grace upon our personal lives, marriage, and ministry. We are humbled and grateful for your continual love, prayers, and support.

The month of March started out with our celebration service where our church plants came together to be encouraged, equipped, and edified. The highlight of the day was the 15 individuals who followed the Lord in Baptism. Please remember these individuals in your prayers for their spiritual growth.

Chea (age 30) received assurance of his salvations this past month. He showed up at church looking for some of our national leaders who had shared the gospel with him in the past. God has been working on his heart these past few months, and in his own words, "I came to the place where the poor are loved and the gospel is preached." What a joy it is to see him come to church! I gave him a booklet with the gospel of Mark to read as a daily devotional. Please be in prayer for Chea's spiritual growth.

For the past few weeks, I have been able to meet with Ivan (age 22) in my home for a salvation study. He is Russian but grew up in France. For the past few years, he has been living in Cambodia. We met through a game of basketball. God has been working in his heart as he has been asking me some great questions! Please remember him in your prayers for his salvation.

Please continue to be in prayer for the village of Romdeng. We praise God for the growth of the new believers as they continue to grow from spiritual infancy into maturity. We praise the Lord for Ney, who accepted Jesus into his heart! I praise God for the testimony of Ney's wife during these past several months; it made an impact on him coming to know Christ. Please continue to pray for these new believers along with Vannak, Tiag, and Sommoun who are in need of salvation.

Thank you again for your faithfulness to our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord richly bless you!

May 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

I get a bittersweet feeling every Friday evening when we have to say goodbye to our brothers and sisters in Christ in Romdeng village.  Our hearts are blessed by the faithfulness of these national believers who are often persecuted and ridiculed for their new-found faith.  God is always faithful!  Phalley (age 47), Sokkhim (age 21), and Sovanna (age 30) all believed on Jesus.  They have had spiritual growth as new believers.  We are always grateful to see the new believers continuing their spiritual growth, which is evident by what they say and how they live their lives.  Poch (age 16) is a deaf teen, who had been attending our Bible Study; please pray for her salvation.

Thank you for praying for Ivan's salvation.  This past Sunday, Ivan Musto's name was written down in the Book of Life!  After several sessions and many hours of salvation studies, he, on his own, called upon the name of the Lord to save him of his sins.  Praise the Lord!  It's a joy to see Ivan start coming to church.  Please pray for our weekly Bible Study and for him to grow in God's grace and truth.

John Kuce, a Canadian, was saved three years ago through our ministry here.  Through much prayer, Bible Study, counseling, and discipleship, God's process of sanctification is at work in his heart and mind.  What a joy it is to see him at just about every one of our services.  Please keep his wife, Ally, in prayer; she made a profession of faith a couple years ago but is still struggling spiritually.  They will be heading back to Canada soon, so please pray that they will find a good church and stay faithful to Jesus.

Srey Pov is a young mother living apart from her family and going to college at the capital.  A few months ago, she came to church for the first time and had some really great questions about God.  We challenged her to seek to know the one, true God.  The Holy Spirit's conviction is evident as she has been diligently searching to know the truth since that conversation.  It is a joy to see her contact Thy and come to church.  We will meet her soon for a salvation study.  Please pray that she will know our one, true God and be saved.

God is good all of the time, and all of the time, God is good.  We thank you for your continual love, prayers, and financial support.  God bless.

June 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

We started the month of May with a survey trip to the Northwest Cambodia and Southeast Thailand border towns.  Our first stop was in Battambang city for the evening in which we scheduled Po and his famiy for a meet up.  After sharing the gospel with hijm for 3 years, with Missionary Sara Vong, he called upon the name of the Lord to be saved.  Glad to God!  We, then, headed northwest from there to the border towns.  This survey trip was surreal as it was my first time visiting this part of Southeast Asia.  We passed through many towns, visiting several border checkpoints and meeting many beautiful people who have little to no access to the glorious gospel.  In just a few weeks our college will be taking a mission’s trip to view these spiritually deprived places and people.  Please pray for discernment and wisdom as we plan and orchestrate this special trip.  Please pray for open doors and more laborers in this great harvest!  At the end of the trip, we stopped back in Battambang city to have a time of discipleship with Po.  It went well as he listened attentively and asked good questions.  I recently received a message (from a local pastor) that Po took his family to church this past Sunday.  Praise the Lord!  Please pray for his wife, Ya, to be saved.

Thank you so much for the many of you who have prayed for our 2nd Annual Family Camp.  Our people, including myself, were challenged and blessed by the mighty works that God did in our hearts, families, and ministry.  What an awesome time of fellowship, competitions, accountability, singing, teaching, and preaching.  There was a great spirit throughout the camp; I am so thankful for our team and the ministry with which God has blessed us.  A few highlights are that 199 people attended the camp; 3 individuals placed their faith and dedicated their lives to Jesus; and many other decisions were made for the glory of God!

For the past couple of months, Thy and our ladies have been faithfully sharing the gospel with Horr.  I am happy to report that this past month, she believed in Jesus Christ.  What a joy it was to have her attend our church services.  Now she always has a smile on her face and it hungry to know the Lord more.  Please pray for her spiritual growth and for her husband, Run, to get saved.

Sometimes, the simplest things mean the most!  Thy and I are humbled and grateful by your continual love, prayers, and support.  If we can ever be a blessing to you in any way, please do not hesitate to let us know.  May the Lord continue to richly bless you!

July 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

What God is doing in Romdeng Village is nothing short of a miracle.  The Devil is not happy and will continue to deceive, distract, and discourage.  Please continue to pray for the spiritual growth of these new believers and for the gospel to continue to have free course.  Here are some of the highlights:
- On June 1st, Te believed on Jesus.
- On June 15th, Vannak and Srey Noch both placed their faith in Christ.
- Some of our new believers are boldly and faithfully sharing their faith.
- Please pray for Leab, Ros, and Pich to be saved.

Do you remember Sray Vouch?  Though she has been living in her hometown without a local church, I'm so thankful that our ladies faithfully stay in contact with her.  I'm thrilled to share with you that because of the good of God and her godly testimony, we were able to lead her dad, Su Kim Thol to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Oh, to see in person the joy and freedom that salvation brought to their lives!  Please continue to pray for their spiritual growth.  Also pray for an open door to their village, Tang Kok.  May this be the start of another miracle of God.

Out college mission trip: #pbbcmissions18, turned out to be a trip of a lifetime.  We traveled to the unreached and mostly unengaged Northwest Cambodia and Southeast Thailand border towns.  What an amazing experience personally, but especially for our college students as this was their first trip to this physically and spiritually needy area.  Throughout the trip, we wept, prayed, preached the gospel, and mainly saw the fields are white for harvest.  I believe that we were all stirred, challenged, and changed for the better.  Please continue to pray for our sensitivity to God and the countless souls of Southeast Asia.  Here are some of the highlights from the trip:
- Visited three Cambodian provinces: Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey.
- Had question and answer sessions with 1 missionary and 2 national pastors.
- Our college students held two separate children's services.
- Canvassed and shared the blessed gospel with many individuals and several villages.

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to sincerely thank you for partnering with us in reaching Southeast Asia for Christ.  May the Lord continue to richly bless you!

August 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

Greetings from Cambodia!  We hope and pray that your summer is going well.  It's always a joy every month to go through the calendar and pictures, recollecting the wonderful things that God is doing in, through, and around our ministry.  July was another fruitful month.

On July 12th, 2018, Thy and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary!  We are so thankful for the grace and goodness of God.  I appreciate many of you who pray for our marriage and individual spiritual growth.

On July 15th, Srey Naet and Laekana made a profession of faith after Sunday morning church.  The joy of salvation was so evident on their faces when they came to church the following Sunday after salvation.  Please remember them in your prayers as persecution has already started and will continue to come.  Pray for their spiritual growth!

On July 19th, we had a wonderful group of our men join the Men's work day at our Psar Trach church plant.  We were able to begin preparation for laying the foundation for a church building.  The church is currently meeting in an uncompleted chicken coop structure owned by our national leader, Brother San.  Please continue to be in prayer for this church plant and for the continual progress of this building project.  Pray for wisdom from God and discernment on our part.

Just a quick update on Romdeng Village.  This past month, Joun Nat, a 13-year-old girl, believed on Jesus.  God used her friends, Poch's testimony, and spiritual teaching to convict her of her need for salvation.  Please be in prayer for Joun Nat as she will be dealing with persecution from her family and unsaved friends.  Also, pray for these individuals to be saved: Leab, Koun, Soan, and Sophach.

August 8th was the first college day for our Pacific Baptist Bible College!  Please join us in prayer as we continue to pray and prepare for the coming school year.  May God have His will and way in the lives of these dear teens and young adults.  May they sincerely seek and follow the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you so much for reading through this entire update.  Thy and I sure do covet your prayers.  We are humbled and grateful for your faithful love, prayers, and support.  May the Lord richly bless you!

End of Summer, 2018, update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

What a summer it was in Cambodia; if I could sumarize it into three words, it would be "God is faithful!"  I would like to also thank you for being faithful to our Lord Jesus and His great commission.  What an honor it is to be able to partner with you in fulfilling His command.

On August 8th, Pacific Baptist Bible College, Phnom Penh, hosted its first "College Day."  Many signed up and participated as God worked on our hearts through the singing, testimonies, classes, fellowship, and preaching.  It's amazing what God is doing in the hearts and lives of the next generation.  We are happy to report that five new young adults have started college.  Please pray for them to continue to grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

On August 12th, it was a jam-packed celebration service as we had the privilege to witness many nationals follow the Lord in baptism.  What a joy it was to see old and new faces alike as we witness the grace and goodness of God upon our ministry.  Also, for several days, we were blessed to have Pastor Tunnell, Pastor Chadwick, and a group of nineteen from Canyon Ridge Baptist Church visit from the states and minister alongside us in our various ministries.  We were blessed by their kindness, friendship, and fellowship in the gospel.

During August 23-26th, we had the privilege to survey the province of Kampong Chhnang, specifically Kbal Konlong village.  We praise God that Cheatra, a 10-year-old, called upon the Lord to save him after our salvation study together.  Please be in prayer for the Khan family as the seed of the gospel has been planted.  Please remember Srong, Hour, He, Srou, Peo, Mab, and Panet to be saved.

Praise the Lord!  During the past month, three adults, Noun, Naan, and Mate all believed on Jesus.  Another three individuals from this village followed the Lord in baptism.  Glory to God!  Please continue to be in prayer for these new believers to be faithful as they deal with persecution.  Please continue to pray for Yin, Sochear, Buna, Malis, Leab, Koun, Soan, and Sophach to be saved.

Your love, prayers, and support are gifts that Thy and I will always treasure.  Thank you for your faithfulness to our Lord Jesus and for being a blessing to us.  May the Lord continue to richly bless you.

September 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

EXCITING NEWS: Out of all the prayers letter that I have had the privilege of writing since 2010, this is without doubt the hardest.  No, Thy and I are not planning on leaving the field; it's actually the exact opposite!  What God is doing through our family, team, and ministry here is nothing short of a miracle.  As church planting missionaries serving with Team Cambodia, our vision is to continue to see more souls saved, laborers trained, and churches planted.  In about 18 months, the lease for our current location is the capital city of Phnom Penh will be up for renewal, and the rest without doubt will increase.  To be honest, we have outgrown this building a few years ago.  As many foreign investors continue to compete and invest in property and development, the prices also continue to be on the rise throughout the country, especially in the capital.  After much prayer and counsel, our team came to the decision that relocation is a necessary and unavoidable step, and now, we are currently in negotiations to purchase a plot of land just outside the capital city.  Hopefully, in the near future, we can begin preparing to have a structure built before our lease expires.  Though we would like to stay within the capital city, the only realistic thing and somewhat affordable at this moment is to purchase a property just outside the city limits where we can build for the future as the Lord leads.  As our churches and Bible College continue to grow and as the Lord is leading us to start Christian school in the near future, we believe that this new location will eventually serve as a wonderful training center from where we would send out laborers throughout the 10/40 window.  All this to say: our entire team will be raising money for this project.  Thy and I are personally raising $75,000 to go toward the purchase of the land (.39 acres) and the upcoming building project on this land.  This is my first time asking for funds toward a project, so please forgive me if I come across unorthodox in how I present this need.  Our team and national believers will all be giving toward this project.  Please pray for us, this special project, and please ask the Lord if it would be in His will for you to help financially.  It you are a member of one of our supporting churches, I want to encourage you to first check with your pastor as we prefer that everything goes through the local church.  This is definitely an exciting time of missions in Cambodia as God is growing His church.  Please feel free to contact me is you are interested, have any questions, or require any further information.

Despite having to meet in a chicken coop for the entire year, our Psa Trach church still continues to grow.  Thankful for two souls, Puthy, a 16-year-old, and Poah, a 50-year-old, that have been saved in the past few weeks.  Blessed to witness the sacrificial giving and manual labor of these national believers toward the foundation of a future meeting place.  Please join me in prayer as we continue to trust God's power, provision, and presence.  Also, pray for these new believers' spiritual growth.  I am thrilled about God's perfect will for their lives.  Check out our hashtag: #NextGeneration1040.

Every Saturday myself and fellow team members, Sara Vong and Touch Keo, have a sports ministry reaching out to several Cambodian American deportees.  Please pray for us as we continue to build relationships and share the gospel with their precious souls.  Every week, we have about 20 men show up, and before we play basketball, we get to teach them about Jesus.  Please pray for wisdom, boldness, and patience.

We had a wonderful turnout for our annual singles activity.  What a wonderful time of fellowship as we explored the coastal region of Cambodia for a day.  I am so blessed by these your adults evident love of God, each other, and the lost.  Daily, I continue to be amazed by God's goodness in entrusting to us this core group of young adults that we get to teach, train, and invest in.  Please continue to be in prayer for these national believers to continue to grow in grace and truth.  For more information and pictures, check out our hashtag: #pbcppal.

Phearask and Sandra have two things in common, they are both 18-years-old and have not placed their trust in Jesus.  This past month, we were able to host them individually in our home and also present them with the good news.  Please pray for their sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and that they will both turn from darkness to light.  Their openness to the gospel is more often than not a result of the faithfulness and Godly example of our national believers who are their family, friends, and/or neighbors.  Hopefully, soon, they will have something else in common, Jesus.

Please continue to remember Dalin in your prayers for safety and spiritual growth.  Dalin along with her daughter trusted Christ a few years back, but for the most part, they have not been in church since.  They are not allowed to by her husband, Barang.  After much prayer, God have opened the door for them to attend almost on a weekly basis.  If you could only see the smiles on their faces on that first Sunday back in church, it was emotional.  Dalin is among countless women in Cambodia who deal with spousal abuse: Emotional, Verbal, and/or Physical.  Not going into details, the last two months have gotten worse and she has had to make several visits to the clinic and hospital.  Please pray for their safety and recovery; pray, also, for the salvation of her husband, Barang.  Please pray for wisdom, boldness, and God's intervention as we handle this situation.

Because of the busyness of our schedule, I have not had the chance to be in Romdeng for the past couple of weeks.  I praise God for our national leaders, laymen, and servants who willingly and joyfully held the fort.   Don't tell them this, but they actually do a better job that me!  The last time, I was there the overflow section of the house, where we have our Bible study, was crowded.  Our national leader there told me that the next time I return to Romdeng, to be prepared to be reproved because I did not involve them in taking up an offering to purchase pillars for one of our sister churches.  When they found out, they took it upon themselves to give sacrificially to their brothers and sister in need.  Blessed by the continual growth of these new believers in this remote village and by the opportunity to share the gospel with several new folks.  For more information and pictures, check out our hashtag: #RomdengVillage.

Thank you for being such a blessing to all of us here in so many ways.  It can't be said enough of how much we need and covet your prayers.  If we can ever be a blessing to you in any way, please feel free to let us know.

October 2018 update from Bounna & Thy Has, missionaries to Southeast Asia:

October has been another amazing month of blessings and prayer requests that we would like to update and share with you.  Thank you of taking the time to think of us, the Khmer believers, and the lost souls of Cambodia.  We appreciate every single one of you and covet your continual love, prayers, and support.

Last month, our team put down a deposit for a plot of land, which will be the future location of Pacific Baptist Church, Bible College, and Christian School.  We believe that this land will serve as the future site of where many souls will be reached with the gospel, trained, and then sent forth throughout the 10/40 window.  Our entire team is raising money for this project.  Thy and I are personally raising $75,000 to go toward the purchase of the land, due November 26th, 2018, and the upcoming building project on this land.  Our team and national believers will all be giving toward this project.  Please continue to pray for us and this special need, and ask the Lord if it would be in His will for you to help financially.  Please feel free to contact me if you are interested, have any questions, or require any further information.  It's humbling to look back on what God have already done and exciting to look forward to what He will continue to do in this part of the world!

For about three weeks this November, Thy and I will be in Southern California to teach a mission intensive class at Pacific Baptist Bible College in Long Beach.  Afterwards, we look forward to being able to spend Thanksgiving with my family.  During the first week in December, I will travel to a restricted nation to preach a mission emphasis weekend and teach a week-long intensive in their Bible College.  The following week there, I will be in a wedding of our own fellow single missionary, Adrian Torres, who will be marrying a sweet national believer, Bounmee.  We look forward to them serving alongside our team in Cambodia.  Please pray for me personally as I still have many lessons and messages to prepare.  God has blessed us with tremendous opportunities to challenge the next generation of laborers to go forth into His great harvest of souls.  Glory to God!

As mentioned in our previous letter, Phearask met with me this past month, and after our salvation study together, asked the Lord to save him.  God used the godly testimony of his older brother, Phearin, (my first convert) to really get his attention.  Wow!  Isn't God good!  Please be in prayer for his spiritual growth.  Also, pray for Phearin to have discernment and to continue to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's promptings.

We appreciate many of you who faithfully pray for our miraculous Romdeng Village ministry.  Though there is much persecution and opposition to the gospel here, by the grace of God, there continues to be progress.  Here are some of the highlights:
 - Several weeks ago, Nonn and Naan believed on Jesus.
 - This past month, Buna called upon the Lord to cave him.
 - Sokkey, Tong Hai, and Vichica all have a desire to attend Bible College.
 - There was a successful Men’s' outing.
 - Please pray for Yin, Koun, Soan, Sophach, Malis, Leab, and Srey Nech to be saved.
 - Please continue to pray for these new believers who are be persecuted for their faith, especially Sovanny, Nonn, and Jun Nat.

What a joy it is to see our Cham believers continue to grow in their sanctification and service.  For 17 hours, a group of six former Muslims all took a day off from work to travel and serve other ethnic groups that they used to hate before they met Jesus.  That a joy it is to see out national believers take it upon themselves to lead and love other believers and the lost.  There's nothing like the power of the gospel!

This past week, Thy and I along with four of our young ladies traveled to participate in a youth camp in Northern Cambodia.  I praise God for the opportunity to preach on "Standing in the Gospel" to a wonderful group of young people.  Blessed to see firsthand all of our girls making a public decision to take a "Stand for God."  For me, the highlight of the conference was when I had the opportunity to personally lead a young man named Rhen to the Lord.  I'm so thrilled about all that God has in store for him in the near future.  Please remember these young national believers in your prayers.

From the bottom of our hearts, Thy and I would like to say "thank you" for continuing with us on this epic journey of fulfilling the great commission.  God is good, all of the time; all of the time, God is good!
